"Kat" - Vintage Table Lamp with One-of-a-kind Lampshade
Kat is a large vintage brass table lamp complete with a hand-stitched green and black Victorian-inspired lampshade. It measures 28" (total height) by 15" (shade width) and weighs 6lbs 1oz.
The lampshade has medium opacity and features Liberty of London Tana Lawn cotton in the beloved Strawberry Thief pattern in green, stunning designer burnout velvet that changes shades of moss in various light, black trim, black glass bead fringe, and silk lining in shades of gold for a warm glow. This lampshade has a spider fitting.
The lamp body is in the Hollywood Regency style and features a playful cherub, 12 vintage glass prisms, a candlestick-like pillar, and a white marble base. The original gold finish was unsalvageable, so this beauty received a makeover in satin black for a Goth vibe. The lamp is in good overall condition, with some minor chipping on the marble base, a bit of discoloration of the candlestick plastic, and a minor chip on one of the smaller prisms. This is a 3-way twist switch lamp, that allows you to enjoy low, medium, and bright settings.
Fun fact: Strawberry Thief is a classic Arts and Crafts design that was created by William Morris in 1883. It is truly timeless and continues to be a popular choice with decorators. The Tana Lawn cotton on which it is printed comes from the Liberty Mill, located between Milan and Lake Como in Italy, and is renowned for its fluidity, silk-like touch, and the vibrancy and quality of print.
